The Brain Health Programme
with Registered Nutritional Therapist,
Sarah Mallinson
Picture
The Brain Health Programme is based on the work of Professor Dale Breseden (from the Buck Institute in California), an internationally recognised expert in neurodegenerative diseases.

There will be an introductory talk on Thursday, 23 January 2020 - for more information

The Brain Health Programme is a nutrition and lifestyle coaching programme, designed to optimise brain health and cognitive function – supporting mood, memory and focus.

The programme comprises six evidenced based workshops for supporting brain health:-

Workshops 1 and 2 - 13 & 20 February 2020

Mind what you eat: Just like any other organ, the brain requires certain nutrients to function properly. Sarah will be sharing the very best foods to eat, as well as ways of eating, to optimise the brain and help prevent cognitive decline.

Workshop 3 - 27 February 2020

Optimising Gut Health: Science has revealed that what goes on in our digestive tract influences our mood and mental function. Sarah will provide a down-to-earth explanation of the 'gut-brain axis' and provide practical advice on how to ensure a healthy gut.

Workshop 4- 5 March 2020

Stress Management: Persistent high levels of the stress hormone cortisol may kill brain cells. Sarah will provide practical advice for reducing stress naturally.

Workshop 5 - 12 March 2020

Improving Sleep: Sleep is vital for optimal brain health. Statistics show we are sleeping less, and problems such as getting to sleep or staying asleep are common. Sarah will provide strategies for optimising sleep.

Workshop 6 - 19 March 2020

Physical Activity and Brain Training: Exercise increases blood flow to the brain and helps to produce brand new cells within the part of the brain responsible for memory and emotions. Sarah will share how exercise can lift mood and help with stress management.

The adult brain continuously adapts to relevant sensory stimulation. We will explore how exercising the brain allows new connections to be created and maintained.

In addition you will benefit from:

  • Weekly actions to tweak your current food, exercise and lifestyle
  • Easy-to-follow recipes
  • Expert support and advice as you progress.
  • Professional support to understand and change your relationship with food
  • Help to make achievable, long-term, food and lifestyle changes

All information (eg handouts, recipes and self care journal) is emailed to attendees following each workshop.  If you would prefer printed copies, these need to be requested in advance for an extra charge.
